Frequently Asked Questions

"My belief is that somewhere inside of you is the answer to every question that can be asked about you. - Dr. Upledger

What is Craniosacral Therapy?

Craniosacral Therapy is a gentle, non-invasive manual treatment approach that works with the natural self-correcting mechanisms of the body. Its focus is largely upon the craniosacral system (CSS), which consists of the membranes and fluids that surround the brain and spinal cord. Palpation of the CSS allows detection and release of core issues so that the treatment focuses on the cause of dysfunction rather than symptoms.

What is the Craniosacral System?

The craniosacral system (CSS), which consists of the membranes and fluids that surround the brain and spinal cord. The CSS has the ability to influence every system in the body, such as the musculoskeletal, neurological, immune, digestive, endocrine, etc. More specifically the Craniosacral System is a semi-closed hydraulic system contained within a tough waterproof membrane, the Dura Mater, which envelops the brain and the spinal cord. An important function of this system is the production, circulation, and reabsorption of Cerebrospinal Fluid (CSF). CSF is produced within the Craniosacral System and maintains the physiological environment in which your brain and nervous system develop, live, and function. The production and reabsorption of CSF within the Dura Mater produces a continuous rise and fall of fluid pressure. It is this rise and fall of fluid pressure that constitutes the Craniosacral rhythm perceivable by a skilled therapist in the movement of cranial bones and throughout the body. The craniosacral rhythm, like the cardiac and respiratory pulse, can be felt throughout the body and used to monitor the function of the craniosacral system and the health of the body.”- Admin integrative physical therapy

Do you take insurance? Do you accept FSA/HSA?

I do not bill insurance, but I can provide a SuperBill for you to submit to your insurance company after each session. I am able to accept Health Savings Account (HSA) or Flex-Spending Account (FSA) to pay for your sessions. When used to treat a specific medical condition, the cost of cranial sacral therapy is eligible with a Letter of Medical Necessity (LMN) with a flexible spending account (FSA), health savings account (HSA). You are responsible to check eligibility.

What is your cancellation policy

Clients have up to 48 hours before the appointment time to reschedule without penalty. If they cancel an appointment less than 24 hours in advance, or no-show, they are responsible for paying the full session fee. Nourish and Align has the right to waive the fee in the case of a significant emergency or at my discretion.

How many CST sessions will I need?

The amount of sessions vary and are based on the client’s state of health and treatment goals. Generally, for those who want to come in for wellness visits, and are in good health, I recommend monthly or bimonthly sessions. For a client planning a tongue tie release, I recommend bodywork before and after the procedure. Before a tongue tie release bodywork reduces tension to assist with a full release. After the release, bodywork reduces maladaptive movements, and assists in preventing reattachment. In my experience when someone comes in with an acute or chronic condition, I recommend 2- 4 sessions close together to focus on relief. Next we address the root of the cause and may schedule sessions a few weeks apart. Some clients then choose to come in monthly or every other month for maintenance.

Can I book a session for multiple children in one visit?

Yes! Sibling sessions are available for siblings that a parent feels would be comfortable receiving care as a duo. Twins are welcome and allotted time for bodywork for both babies.

Can I book a session for myself and my child?

Yes! Craniosacral Therapy is a gentle form of bodywork that is ideal for parents to receive along with their new baby or older child together. This aids in the release of tension, creates connection, and combines healing.

Do you have a waiting list?

Yes! The best way to utilize the wait list is to schedule an appointment before you add yourself to the wait list.
